Updated: Jul 31, 2019

Many spas and other natural based stores are currently introducing Yoni steams and other products associated with the Yoni. But, Yoni steaming is actually an ancient practice originating from Africa, Asia and Central America.

Meaning

The word "Yoni" translates to the words vagina or womb. In many ancient cultures this is further translated to the phrase "divine passage" and/ or "sacred temple." The womb is the gateway between the spiritual and physical realms. Everything that wishes to enter the physical must do so through the womb. Thus, the womb equals a gateway. In Eastern traditions, the womb was held to such a high esteem that the Yoni is celebrated and even worshiped during fertility festivals.

Benefits

The steam treatment is a very easy and gentle process leading to numerous benefits. Many women who have tried steaming report feelings of freshness, reduced anxiety and an overall sense of rejuvenation. Natural health practitioners report that Yoni Steaming can cure several vaginal ailments; such as but not limited to, yest infections, urinary tract infections and infertility. The steam is also ideal for easing discomforts relating to women's menstrual cycle. The steam assists in regulating cycles and aides in the transition process into menopause. Women who suffer from cysts and fibroids have reported that steaming has reduced it's size and even completely healed their ailments all together.

How the process is able to yield such beneficial results is that the steam from the natural herb mixture rises into the Yoni. Furthermore, detoxifying the womb and the body. For those who are in-tuned with their inner/ higher selves, Yoni Steaming enhances the release of stored emotions and negative energies. Resulting in, the unlocking of a powerful creative energy (ie. chi energy). For those who are not aware, the chi energy is the body's life force. You have heard a term such as, Kundalini as well. And Kundalini, being the Indian Tantric terminology stating that the energy resides at the base of the spine. This is another topic for another day.
